April 2006 Review:
Two Finger Split
5 song Demo
Two Finger Split’s sound rides a unique line.  On one hand, it’s an acoustic pop sound in the style of Guster and Vertical Horizon that could be easily digestible to white college kids everywhere.  On the other, it maintains a freedom and dynamic that keeps it from sounding too soulless.  Two Finger Split is not a rock band, and they do a really good job at not being a rock band.  These songs aren’t out to bite; they’re out to please.  For example, a song like “Roller Derby Disco,” while it won’t scare your parents, does a wonderful job of capturing what it feels like to party with your other attractive friends the summer after senior year.  I could see this band going over well in the college circuit, and by the end of the EP, it’s pretty clear that these guys are inspired by what they’re doing.
